Carlos Carbonell Pascual

Carlos Carbonell Pascual is the first Spanish judo coach to be in charge of another country's Judo team (Malta) with only 30 years old. He also has been the first Spanish coach to be awarded as a Level 5 Elite Performance Judo Coach by the European Judo Union. Carlos Carbonell studied a Bachelor of Science in Sports (specialized in Sports Performance) in one of the leading Sports Universities of Europe, the University of Bath in the United Kingdom where Olympic Champions like Amy Williams have studied. He was appointed to be the National Coach of the Maltese Judo team during 2007 and 2008.
==Biography==

Carlos Carbonell was born in Alcoy (Spain) on December 14, 1976. Since very little, he was always into sports, he used to practice judo, futsal, basketball, Ping-Pong, football, etc.
At the age of 22, he decided to study the TAFAD in Elche (Spain) where he developed furthermore his natural abilities and sports performance in sports like tennis, rugby, volleyball, swimming and even badminton. To continue developing his knowledge in judo he decided to train in the Club of the Olympian champion Miriam Blasco (Carlos Carbonell represented her club for 3 years in the first division of the Spanish National League). By the age of 24, he received his official diploma as a Judo Instructor from the Royal Spanish Judo Federation.
In 2002, to further develop his sports career, he decided to move to the United Kingdom. He was advised to go to the University of Bath where he could combine his sports studies with the practice of judo. While he was living and studying in Great Britain, he came along with world champions and Olympian medalists as Kate Howey or Kosei Inoue.
He has been pioneer in several projects and he has worked with organizations such as: England Rugby Academy, European Judo Union, Adex International Sports Consulting and he has been in charge of the preparation of athletes for the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour, Paris Dakar, Pacific Rugby League California, Amlin Rugby Cup and Rugby Seven’s World Series.
